TERROR AT TENKILLER (DVD) rare '80s slasher

This week we have a rare slasher that you never really hear much about.  Apparently banned in German for some time, we have found a great quality uncut print from Japan.  Although there isn't an over abundance of gore that you would think warranted it being banned,  it still is a formulaic film that fans of the genre should enjoy.......

TERROR AT TENKILLER (1986)

     A girl is having problems with her extremely possessive boyfriend who continually stalks and harrasses her.  She decides to takes her girlfriends advice to get away for the summer and the two girls hear to a vacation cabin located on Lake Tenkiller.

     The girls settle in right away by getting jobs at the local diner and meeting the local residents of the lake.  Mysterious murders begin to happen though and it seems like the two girls are likely the next targets. Is there a connection to the murders and the old legend of Tenkiller, is it the jealous boyfriend, or is someone else to blame?


     Filmed on location in Oklahoma, this rare slasher has all the ingredients you would expect from the genre: eighties synth score, plenty of flesh on display, and over-the-top bad acting with some close-up gore.

Originally released in the US as part of Sybil Danning's Adventure Video line of VHS back in the day - we just recently located an excellent print from Japan that is a lot better.  Along with the bizarre cast, this revenge flick also feature a score be the De Angelis brothers.........

KILLING MACHINE (1984)

     A professional hit-man has retired and started a new life in Spain as a truck driver. He decides to take his lovely wife with him while driving a shipment of oranges to France and runs into trouble when encountering the local mafia that is trying to control the market of fruits.


     The mafia end up trapping the hit-man's wife inside the truck and burn her alive.  Filled with rage, the hit-man is forced to return back to his old ways to get revenge.  Using his old contacts, he is provided with all the guns and information he needs to kill each and everyone responsible for his wife's death.


     This revenge action thriller features a truly unique cast including Willie Aames (Zapped!, Cut and Run), Margaux Hemingway (Killer Fish), and the one and only Lee Van Cleef as an evil lawyer.

GOLD RAIDERS (DVD) rareThai adventure action with Roberty Ginty

Here is a pretty crazy flick that we dug up lately.  It stars the late, great Robert Ginty of Exterminator fame and has him running around Thailand shooting the place up.  Not only is this a rare film to begin with, we found an amazing WIDESCREEN print that ensures you never miss any periphery action.........

GOLD RAIDERS (1983)

     An SOS message is sent out when a plane carrying $200 million dollars worth of gold is brought down somewhere in Thailand. A special agent (Cop Target's Robert Ginty) is called upon to head up a small squad that includes his old girlfriend and infiltrate enemy lines to recover the gold.
 
     Disguised as local fishermen, the group start their mission by taking a boat up the river to where they think the plane crashed.  Along the way they catch a monster fish, have scuba-diving fights, fend off vampire bats, and square of against a mad communist commander that is obsessed with finding the gold for himself.  But our hero has a secret weapon:  a flying motorcycle equipped with missiles and powered by crystal fuel cells!
 
     This entertaining jungle action/adventure is a mix between James Bond and Rambo with an international cast and a lots of local Thai spice thrown in for good flavor.  The combination of hilarious badly dubbed dialogue and high body count using juicy squibs makes for an unforgettable viewing experience that is so bad you have to love it.

SPIDER LABYRINTH (DVD) rare Italian supernatural gore horror

We have been searching for a great print of this one for quite a long time and we are glad we finally found an amazing WIDESCREEN print from Japan.  This was made near the end of the Italian reign of horror and is a really great flick with lots of atmosphere and some great gore and creature FX by the genre vet Sergio Stivaletti. A must for fans of Argento and Fulci........

SPIDER LABYRINTH (1988)

     An American archaeologist is researching an ancient religion that seems to have evidence of its existence show up in seemingly unconnected locations. He travels to Budapest to coordinate with another researcher and stumbles upon the pagan cult of their focus. The cult worships giant subterranean spider monsters that possess humans and make them to carry out their dirty work and spread the religion.


     It isn't long before his fellow researcher has a nervous breakdown and begins babbling strange things and the archaeologist himself becomes sucked into the vortex of odd happenings. Further investigation reveals there are cult members everywhere and there are no measures too ghastly to protect the secrets of their ancient texts.


     Shot on location in Hungary, Gianfranco Giagni directs this stunning supernatural horror with such brooding atmosphere that the even in broad daylight the deserted streets seem creepy.  It is no surprise why this stylish film has been likened to the work of Dario Argento, and with it's violent intensity and Sergio Stivaletti’s stellar effects, it is certainly well deserving of the comparison.
