This week we have a heavy dose of '80s nostalgia wrapped up in a post-apocalyptic bow.  This film definitely managed to get a bigger budget than it probably was worthy of at the time, but they seemed to spend it in the wrong places.  Have a few drinks ready and have a chug every time you hear some hot metal licks........

AMERICA 3000 (1986)

     It is 900 years after a devastating nuclear war and a new, tribal society has risen out of the ashes of civilization. Primitive and violent, the women dominate while men have become "seeder" slaves or playthings.

     At the site of an ancient war bunker, a rebel stumbles upon an arsenal of 21st century weapons and puts together a small army of renegade males. Now they have a chance to overthrow the beautiful warrior queen of the Thunder Women when the male grenade-hurling foot soldiers collide with her cavalry of female martial arts experts.

     This ridiculous post-apocalyptic flick had a fair sized budget and was written and directed by David Englebach who wrote Death Wish 2 and Over the Top. Be on the look out for "Aargh the Awful", a shaggy small-scale bigfoot mutant that loves to hear the '80s rock blast out of a 900 year old boom box.

DARK, THE (DVD) graveyard creature feature with Brion James and Neve Campbell

We are back to some horror for this weeks release.  This rare Canadian made creature feature was a request that we got quite some time ago and we are glad to be able to finally deliver.  Brion James is awesome as usual, and the other main actor is the Elaine's psychiatrist from Seinfeld which is pretty interesting to see him in something completely different...........

THE DARK (1993)


     There is something alive and lurking beneath the surface of a small town graveyard. A scavenger of sorts, it feeds on the freshest buried bodies as it moves around creating an intricate system of tunnels.

     One man, a tough ex-FBI agent, is determined to hunt down and destroy the mysterious creature. A scientist who has been tracking it as well is hell-bent on capturing the miraculous being alive. Both stalk the creature in its subterranean habitat, culminating in a three-way battle for science, survival and revenge.

     This creative creature feature has an abundance of atmosphere and moves at a non-stop pace that keeps up the excitement. The late great Brion James (Blade Runner, The Horror Show) stars as the evil ex-FBI agent and Neve Campbell (Scream series) plays a police officer in her first feature role.

WARRIORS OF THE APOCALYPSE (DVD) bizarre post-apoc jungle adventure

Oh man, not sure how tho even explain the insanity of this one.  Thank god there is a great YouTube vid we found that show an amazing glimpse into what you are in store for - lasers, lepers, leprachauns, oh my!

WARRIORS OF THE APOCALYPSE (1985)

     It is the 21st century and the world has been ravaged by war. The earth is a wasteland populated by scavengers who rely on brute force, terror and killer instinct to survive. A group of nomads search for a magical mountain that holds the secret to eternal life.

     Their treacherous journey takes them into a land where the law is in the hands of those with the strongest weapons. Once they arrive at the fabled mountain, their paradise soon turns into hell when they encounter the evil ruler. A titanic struggle between the nomads and the Queen of the mountain turns in a futuristic battle to the death.

     This Filipino production seems to be more of a bizarre jungle adventure than post-apocalyptic film. With its Polynesian warriors, immortal pygmies in King Diamond makeup, women in fur bikinis, and radiation scarred mutants, there are enough crazy characters to keep anyone amused. Throw in a eyeball blasting laser battle, you have one of the most unique entry in the genre.

THRONE OF FIRE, THE(DVD) Franco Prosperi's entry in Eurotrash Barbarism

This week we have a great entry for all the fans of the Sword and Sorcery genre.  We will hopefully be getting the website updated soon so that Sword and Sorcery will have it's own category as well as other more defined genres.

This is actually the last film that Franco Prosperi (Last House on the Beach, Meet Him and Die) directed before he decided to just stick to writing.  A great counterpart to THE SWORD OF THE BARBARIANS, this one also stars Sabrina Siani...........

THE THRONE OF FIRE (1983)

     Legend tells that the great Odin had fashioned a magnificent throne that awaits the rightful lord of the people.  To earn that honor, a man must marry the Princess of the Realm.  For all who try and unjustly sit upon the throne, they immediately burst into flame.


     A creature fathered by the Devil's messenger  disguises himself as a man and sets off to possess the throne so he can rule the world.  The princess, a warrior maiden of statuesque beauty, refuses the necessary marriage, and to her aid comes the hero Siegfried.  Together they must face the blood- curdling challenges of a fiend capable of ultimate cruelty. 


     Franco Proseperi (Meet Him and Die) directs this thunderous spectacle that lingers on carnage to beat of a bizarro synth score.  Starring the forever bikini clad Sabrina Siani (The Sword of the Barbarians) and Harrison Muller Jr. (The Final Executioner), it also features lots of head bashing and one of the best goopy jelly-child creatures ever presented in Eurotrash Barbarism.

EXTERMINATOR 2 (DVD) vigilante flamethrower revenge with Robert Ginty

Happy New Year everyone!  This past year was a great one for us here.  It saw us release 44 DVDs with the print quality and sleeve art that you have all come to expect and appreciate.  We were also able to finish our first series of trading cards that everyone seems to be really digging as well.

EXTERMINATOR 2 (1984)

     
     When his brother is fried alive by The Exterminator during a holdup attempt, the satanic X and his gang decide to get even and exterminate The Exterminator.  The marauders unleash a campaign of violence as they terrify the populace and start giving orders to the Mafia.  They make one fatal mistake though when they cripple a seductive dancer, the girlfriend of The Exterminator.

     Armed with his trusty flame thrower, the Vietnam veteran turned vigilante hero takes to the wheel of a garbage truck and sets out to clear the city of its malignant human refuse.  In a confrontation of all-consuming fury, the warlords meet for a rumble in the urban jungle.


     Robert Ginty (Cop Target, Gold Raiders) returns as The Exterminator and Mario Van Peebles (New Jack City) rocks a hi-top fade as the evil gang leader X.  Director Mark Buntzman creates a gritty looking New York city with the earthly grounded photography that gives it that rough edge.   Throw in a healthy dose of breakdancing and you got yourself a great '80s revenge flick.

LION'S SHARE, THE (DVD) rare South African cop revenge thriller

Happy Boxing Day - hope everyone got what they wanted from Satan, er Santa.  For the last new title of the year we have an extremely rare flick that you can barely even find on the IMDB.  It is another excellent print from Japan, so maybe a few of you out there will enjoy this rarity........

     An Italian cop is suspended from the force when traumatic feelings begin to hamper his work.  He  returns to his home town of Sun City, South Africa once he realizes that his trauma stems from when he was child and witnessed his father being attacked and eaten by lions.

Still haunted by memories of the mysterious death, he begins an investigation to get some answers once and for all. His former partner soon shows up to help him out and together they try and figure out who exactly was responsible for letting the lions have a human dinner.


This super rare German/Italian/South African co-production combines elements of giallo, thriller and cop revenge to create a very entertaining ride that will have you guessing.  Shot on location in South Africa, its truly unique backdrop also makes the film visually stand out from your average cop thriller.

DEVIL, THE (DVD) gross out Asian horror of black magic witchery

The children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of maggot filled orifices danced in their heads........

Christmas is just around the corner and what better way to ring in the holiday season than with one of the most outstanding examples of the Asian gross-out gore horror.  We tracked down an amazing WIDESCREEN and UNCUT print from Japan that is the definitive version of this flick and it a must for fans of all things disgusting.....

THE DEVIL (1981)  

     A drifter moves into a family run hotel and falls for their daughter during his stay.  After some nifty matchmaking by the bellboy Ding Dong, a marriage is arranged despite the suspicions speed of the romance. 

     Happiness doesn't last long though as the new husband is really a conman out to destroy the family for his own financial benefit. The sighting of a dead girl suggests the conman has a past connected to murder.  When there is a death at the hotel, the old aunt delves into her black magic spells to seek revenge.


     Director Chang Jen-Chieh draws you in with his confidence by creating a dirty feel and laying it on thick visually and aurally. Effective practical effects are used for the deadly spells that show the victims deteriorate with disgustingly imagery involving pus filled boils, snakes, worms and maggots.
